The Cost of Doing Nothing

Though utilities are generally known to approach change with careful deliberation, inaction sometimes imposes risks too high to tolerate. In “Utility Networks: The inherent risks of doing nothing,” the Utility Broadband Alliance explores the influences that can cause utility reticence to embrace change and the risks they could be facing if they do not upgrade their critical grid communications networks. Join UBBA for a lively discussion on topics ranging from utility risk aversion to the role of wireless broadband networks in restoring power in the wake of natural disasters. Change can be hard, but this panel will consider whether not changing will be harder.

Speakers will include Jerry Gentry from New York Power Authority, Steve Lowe from Ericsson, Jitender Vohra from Telit, Tim Sill from Alpha Wireless, and Mike Brozek from Anterix will moderate.
